Saint Helens is a city located in the northwestern part of Oregon, in the United States. It is the county seat of Columbia County, and is situated along the Columbia River, just east of its confluence with the Willamette River. As of the 2010 census, the city had a total population of 12,883. Saint Helens was founded in 1845 by Amos Cook, and was originally named Cooks Landing. It was later renamed after the British explorer Sir George St. Helens. The city is home to several lumber mills and paper mills, and is the site of Mount St. Helens, a volcano that erupted in 1980.
