Terms of Service

By using sunrisesunset.io you agree to these terms. They're written in plain language so you can actually read them. If something isn't clear, email us.

The service

sunrisesunset.io ("the site") shows sunrise, sunset, twilight, and related astronomical data for locations around the world. It also exposes a free JSON API at api.sunrisesunset.io.

No warranty

The site and API are provided as-is, with no warranty of any kind. Times are calculated from published astronomical algorithms and are accurate within a minute or two for most locations, but we make no guarantee of accuracy, availability, or fitness for any purpose. Don't use this data for anything safety-critical — navigation, aviation, maritime operations, medical scheduling, or similar. There are authoritative sources for those cases and this isn't one of them.

Using the API

The JSON API is free for reasonable use. "Reasonable" means:

• Don't hammer it. If you need thousands of requests per second, cache results or contact us.
• Don't scrape the site's HTML to bypass the API.
• Don't resell the raw data as your own product.
• Attribution is appreciated but not required.

We may rate-limit, revoke keys, or block IPs that misuse the service. Usually we'll email first if an account looks like it's drifting into abuse; for obvious attacks we won't.

Your account

You're responsible for keeping your API keys private. Treat them like passwords. If a key leaks, revoke it from your Account page and create a new one.

You can delete your account at any time by emailing us. We can also suspend or delete accounts that violate these terms.

Content on the site

City photos are pulled from Flickr and remain the property of their respective photographers under whatever license Flickr shows for each image. Editorial descriptions, calendar data, and the overall site design are ours. You're welcome to link to any page.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent allowed by law, we aren't liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the site or API. If a court somewhere decides we owe you something anyway, the total is capped at what you've paid us in the last twelve months, which for a free service is zero.

Changes

We may update these terms. When we do, we'll change the effective date at the top. If the change materially affects your rights, we'll try to give notice on the homepage or by email if you have an account.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Missouri, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
