Traill County is a county located in the U.S. state of North Dakota. As of the 2010 census, the population was 8,121. The county seat is Hillsboro. The county was created by the Dakota Territorial Legislature in 1875 and later organized in 1881. It is named for Walter Traill, a Canadian-born lawyer, judge, and politician who served as a member of the Legislative Assembly of Assiniboia West from 1870 to 1872.
