Pontiac, MI is a city located in the state of Michigan. The city is situated along the Clinton River, about 30 miles northwest of Detroit. As of the 2010 census, the city had a population of 59,515. Pontiac is the county seat of Oakland County. The city was founded in 1818 by Colonel Leopold Cadillac, and was named after the Pontiac tribe of Native Americans.
