Clay County is a county located in the northeastern corner of Arkansas. As of the 2010 census, the population was 19,194. The county has two county seats, Corning and Piggott. Clay County is Arkansas’s 67th county, formed on March 24, 1873, from parts of Greene, Craighead, Randolph, and Lawrence counties. It was named for John Clayton, a justice of the Arkansas Supreme Court.
