Claiborne County is a county located in the U.S. state of Mississippi. As of the 2010 census, the population was 9,607, making it the fifth-least populous county in Mississippi. The county seat is Port Gibson. The county was created by the Mississippi Legislature on April 10, 1802, from portions of Adams and Wilkinson counties and was named in honor of William C. C. Claiborne, the first governor of the Mississippi Territory.
